KNOWLEDGE IS KEY.
LA General Medical Center
Restorative Care Village (RCV)
Phase 5

We would like to highlight a very meaningful project currently under construction. Phase 5 of the Restorative Care Village at the LA General Medical Center (formerly LAC+USC), located at 1240 N. Mission Road in Los Angeles. This design-build project covers a 3.2-acre site and includes four-stories totaling 108,000 square-feet. It is a psychiatric subacute facility that consolidates six individual 16-bed units into a single, thoughtfully landscaped and therapeutically-focused structure. The design/build team was selected by the County of Los Angeles through a competitive process for what is one of the first projects of its kind in the state, a critical step forward in expanding the continuum of behavioral health care.

Designed with both the well-being of clients and staff in mind, Phase 5 achieves the scale of a large institutional healthcare building without the typical institutional feel. Natural light has been prioritized throughout the design to foster a calming and restorative atmosphere, while privacy and dignity remain front and center. Credit goes to SWA Architects and EYRC Architects for bringing such a compassionate design vision to life.

From a construction standpoint, we are well into the build. As you can see from the recent photos, the steel structure is nearly topped out and framing and decking are making great progress. The crane operations and site coordination have been running smoothly, with safety and momentum both at the forefront. Over 800,000 square feet of drywall will be installed throughout the project. It’s rewarding to see this project rise, both literally and in the greater impact it will bring to the community.

A big thank you goes out to the project team leading this effort. We also want to acknowledge the team working right next door on another major project, Phase 4 of the Restorative Care Village, the LA General Mental Health Urgent Care Center (MHUCC), which is also currently under construction. Both of these projects represent not just technical excellence but a deep commitment to public service and long-term community care. We are proud to be part of delivering these essential facilities.
