Two Sharpe Projects win "Best of California" from ENR
ENR California’s Best Projects competition received entries spanning the region. And with projects ranging from a wildfire cleanup effort and an iconic landmark restoration to a museum and performing arts plaza, the award-winning projects are as varied as they are exceptional.
We are happy to announce that White & Case LLP has won PROJECT OF THE YEAR from the WWCCA. The Walter F. Pruter project of the year award recognizes projects that exemplify the union construction work of the WWCC a contractor members and their partners. The projects are judged on the following criteria: overall design, quality of workmanship, and use of materials.
At Sharpe, we believe learning is a lifelong journey. We are proud to announce, despite the uncertainties of the pandemic, our focus on education has continued. On October 3rd, Sharpe held a “Top-Out / Finish Class”. The group was comprised of Sharpe finishers, framers and master craftsmen providing training.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the Sharpe SleevesUp Blood Drive on Friday, September 18, 2020. You may be interested to know that 53 donors registered, five people gave a Power Red donation, 42 donors were Sharpe employees, friends and family, 11 donors were from the local community, and 60 units of blood were collected!

The 32nd Annual Calibre Design Awards was a virtual event this year, launched on YouTube at 5pm Thursday, August 27th. Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. had eight projects nominated for an award, of which three won a Calibre Award.

After several months of stay-at-home orders, all 50 states are currently in the process of reopening to some degree. But the lift on restrictions does not mean the risk of COVID-19 has diminished. State lockdowns were not meant to be long-term solutions to the pandemic.

The FCA CREST Awards was created to provide recognition to contractors who maintain effective safety programs, and winners of a CREST Award are internationally-recognized for their commitment to safety excellence.
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed how we navigate through our daily tasks. Routine chores like shopping for groceries, going to work and connecting with people must be carefully planned and completed following specific guidelines provided by the CDC. Words like "social distancing", "video conferencing" and "mask coverings" are now the new normal.
On Friday, April 24, 2020, Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. conducted an all-company video conference meeting. The theme of the meeting was “Celebrating Team Work” and was appropriately titled “This is Who We Are”. The meeting started with two inspiring videos followed by a message from each member of the Executive Committee.

While Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. is recognized for being a premier metal stud and drywall company in Southern California, we are more than just drywall. Sharpe is a people-focused organization with a culture of giving back to our community.
On Saturday, March 14, 2020, Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. held the first of many “101 Classes” scheduled for the year. The “Drywall 101 / Top Out Class” was held at the Sharpe corporate office and classes were open to all Apprentices Stage 1 through 5.

The Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. annual Safety Celebration is one of our biggest employee gatherings of the year. This event is held in recognition of our company’s safety record and accomplishments. It is our company’s way of bringing the whole team together to say thank you, and to promote and reward good safety practices.
Two of our very own receive 2020 "Apprentice of the Year"
Every year, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 36 nominates one Drywall Finishing Apprentice to receive the “Apprentice of the Year” Award. This years, two of Sharpe’s very own were recognized: Ivan Gonzalez was named “Apprentice of the Year” and Jose Lopez was named “Runner Up”.
The Circa project located at 1200 South Figueroa in DTLA received the Walter F. Pruter Project of the Year Award by the Western Wall and Ceiling Contractors Association. The project consists of two, 34-story residential towers with 648 luxury apartments sitting on top of a seven-story retail podium.
Our work force is diverse. It reflects our community, which we are so very proud to live in. It reflects different countries of origin, different educational backgrounds, different religious beliefs, different political believes and different lifestyles. In our continued support of our design community, Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. was the presenting sponsor of this year’s AIA/LA Design Awards which was held at the Saban Media Center in North Hollywood on October 28th.
Facing an accelerated schedule and working with a 30-year-old building that had been vacant for seven years, the 160-member project team created a state-of-the-art, 85,000-square-foot headquarters for Paradigm Talent Agency in just five months, beginning with gutting the entire facility.
Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. held its 2019 annual company picnic at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday, July 13th. The company picnic continues to be an ongoing tradition and is designed to bring all employees and their families together for a celebration of achievements, and to thank all for their hard work and dedication.
The Wolf Pack Graduation Ceremony was the conclusion event after eight modules on leadership development for the Foremen of Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. Select employees met bi-weekly over a four-month period with the goal to empower potential leaders to understand the monumental difference their leadership can make on a job to ensure success for the entire organization.

Several of Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. employees took part in a "Build A Bike" event on April 23rd which is a part of a leadership program focused on growing leaders, engaging teams, and overcoming challenges. Each class comes with challenges to encourage the teams to try new ideas. One of the team challenges is working together, blindfolded, to assemble children’s bikes.

The historic Ford Factory Wins Sustainable Innovation Award
The Los Angeles Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council presented the 8th Annual Sustainable Innovation Awards at its 14th annual Green Gala on December 6, 2018. The Ford Factory, a historic renovation and adaptive reuse at 7th and Santa Fe received the “Sustainable Sites” award.
Sharpe Participates in AIDS/Life Cycle Bike Ride 2019
AIDS/Life Cycle is a fully-supported, seven-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles. It’s a life-changing ride—not a race—through some of California’s most beautiful countryside. As part of this event, thousands of people participating as either Cyclists, Roadies, Volunteers, or Virtual Cyclists raise critically needed funds for HIV/AIDS-related services.

The annual ENR Regional Best Projects 2018 Awards honor the nation’s best projects as determined by three panels of judges, all industry leaders in design and construction. Weeks of scoring and discussion involve detailed analysis of the candidates on their contributions to industry, community, innovation, design, safety, quality, strength of their team and leadership in overcoming challenges.

The Sport is Survival. And some games you can't afford to lose... Bear Grylls Survival Challenge is a 4+ mile outdoor competitive survival experience, inspired by the wild encounters and well-honed skills of the ultimate survival authority – Bear Grylls.
The 15,000-square-foot Experience Center on the Northridge campus that’s been JBL’s home since 1976, is entered via a long hallway that appears framed with laser beams that go up its walls and across the ceiling. Those are actually thin video tubes, capable of blazing fast color changes linked to data from the giant, 18-foot-by-10-foot Samsung video wall at the end of the corridor.
