Meeting the Challenges

Meeting the Challenges

From the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been Sharpe's mission to stay ahead of the challenges. Our team quickly defined our operational goals and objectives. We assigned committees to ensure information regarding the coronavirus is interpreted correctly and is communicated swiftly between our corporate team, our field team and our industry partners. Our areas of focus are, and continue to be safety, guideline compliance and production. We are continually assessing daily operations, mobilizing manpower and implementing best practices. It is our hope this pandemic ends without continued loss of life, and that our country and our industry can resume to business as usual. On behalf of the entire Sharpe team, we thank you for your continued support during this time.
Education and Training

Education and Training

Sharpe is dedicated to giving all employees the opportunity and the tools to succeed in their careers and in life. All aspects of our company are designed with employees success in mind. Every year, as part of our strategic plan, we create a theme with a specific focus. Last year it was health and wellness. This year's theme was education. The Sharpe 2020 calendar was filled with programs and events specifically focused on education. We want to commend our workforce for their dedication to personal development and the completion of certifications during these challenging times.

Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. and the American Red Cross remain steadfast in our mission to prevent and alleviate suffering in the face of emergencies. Last year, Sharpe launched a campaign, "Sharpe SleevesUp", to support the American Red Cross with blood and cash donations. We have asked our employees, family members, friends, industry partners, and community to consider volunteering to make two blood donations. In turn, Sharpe will donate $100 to The American Red Cross for every pint of blood collected. We are hoping to reach a target of 800 blood donations and $80,000 in company contributions.

As news breaks about a spike in coronavirus cases, we want to remind you to stay safe and continue to practice all safety guidelines at work and at home. Sharpe is carefully monitoring the situation, and while we cannot control the crisis itself, we can control our reaction to it. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a very real health and safety issue for our country, local communities and our industry. The construction industry is deemed essential and continues to be one of the driving forces of our economy. Although we may not be able to conduct business as usual right now, we need to continue to serve our clients in the best way possible. Containing the spread of the coronavirus is vital in keeping our projects safe, preventing project shut-downs and protecting ourselves, our co-workers and our families. On your daily Walk-of-Life, please remember to exercise the recommended, and very important, safety guidelines.

Known as the “Drywall Cowboys”, our team raised over $90,000, contributing to the 2019 overall total of $16.7 million, all benefiting HIV/AIDS research, the Los Angeles LGBT Center and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation. Together, we are working to make HIV/AIDS a thing of the past.
Midnight Mission Mask Donation

Midnight Mission Mask Donation

While the COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on Sharpe’s 2020 philanthropic endeavor, the pandemic has not stifled our efforts to help those in our communities. The Sharpe team has had to re-think how we engage and support our local charities. We have also taken measures to help our local healthcare workers. In true Sharpe fashion, our philanthropic work is non-stop, with multiple active campaigns running simultaneously. Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc. made two deliveries of face masks to our friends at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Marina del Rey, and also delivered 2,700 face masks to The Midnight Mission in DTLA on behalf of The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art's "Sew to Slow" campaign, along with our philanthropic partners Artists for Trauma, Karen Michelle and Lilian Raven Clothing.

CommandReady MLM Wolfpack

CommandReady MLM Wolfpack

The CommandReady wolf encounter was the conclusion event after eight modules on leadership development for select Sharpe Foremen. Attendees met biweekly over a four-month period to empower the new and high potential leaders on the Sharpe team. These meetings help Sharpe Foremen understand the monumental difference their leadership can make on their job to ensure success for not only them, but the entire organization. Leaders making decisions that act in the best interest of the build, with the confidence that they understand how their input can accelerate and grow their entire team. The Apex Protection Project rescues wolves and brings awareness to the community about the value of the wolf pack. Humans have been partnering with wolves for 35,000 years and we continue to learn from them, including the benefit of healthy conflict, working toward a common good and roles of different people on a team.
Build-a-Bike

Build-a-Bike

Several of the Sharpe employees took part in a "Build A Bike" event which is a part of a leadership program focused on growing leaders, engaging teams, and overcoming challenges. Each class comes with challenges to encourage the teams to try new ideas. One of the team challenges is working together, blindfolded, to assemble children’s bikes. This 40-minute event represents the stress and challenges of the job site where depending on teammates for information and collaboration is paramount. Stress brings out different things in everyone, but leaders have to understand that the product matters even when you are frustrated. Someone is going to receive your work so your attitude matters, a lot. The people that benefit from the challenge are young children recovering from cancer, and children who have never owned a bike. Driving home the lesson that everything Sharpe employees do, matters. At Sharpe Interior Systems, Inc., we do more than just Drywall.
Watch us at Work Waldorf Astoria

Watch us at Work Waldorf Astoria

A building only goes up once. You've got one shot to get it right. A nice clean smooth wall doesn't start with the taping. It starts with getting the drawings and opening them up from the very first day. It's not just our finishers, it's not just our builders, it's our entire team. How we collaborate on what needs to happen. Everything has to be perfect and coordinated. It is important because it creates a habit - a culture. It's the way Sharpe operates - it's the way we do things. We look at our work, even though it's just drywall, as art. At the end of the day, we want our walls to look like art. When you hire Sharpe, you are going to get that attention to detail and we are very proud of that.
Let's Get Physical
